Draft, pending review by the Tutorcat team. The wording may change before it’s final.

Tutors and counselors

  • Describe your qualifications, experience and results honestly. Never claim a permit, degree or result you don’t have.
  • Arrive on time and prepared, and give fair notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
  • Keep every message and session professional, respectful and about learning.
  • For students under 18, keep parents or guardians informed and agree lesson arrangements with them.
  • Keep contact to the channels and times you agreed. Don’t contact students privately on social media.
  • Keep students’ and families’ personal details private and use them only for lessons.
  • Don’t guarantee grades or university admissions.
  • Never write, buy or pressure anyone into a review, and never offer anything in exchange for one.

Families and students

  • Treat tutors and counselors with courtesy and respect their time.
  • Only review sessions that really happened, and describe them honestly.
  • Agree times, fees and cancellations with the tutor or counselor before lessons start.
  • If something feels wrong, tell us. You don’t need proof to raise a concern.

What counts as unprofessional

  • Inappropriate messages or contact, including personal or romantic messages to a student.
  • Harassment, discrimination or abusive language of any kind.
  • Pressuring a family to book more lessons, pay in advance or leave a review.
  • False credentials, fake permits or misleading claims about experience or results.
  • Fake, paid or abusive reviews.
  • Asking for unusual payments, personal loans or sensitive personal information.

If something goes wrong
